Robert Bastone - Co-Founder & Senior Partner
Robert has over 25 years’ experience in the Global Financial Markets, Asset Management, Hedge Funds, Private Equity, and Advisory to diverse companies.
Robert has worked with firms focused on raising capital, expanded their portfolio footprint, regulatory & financial reporting and exceeding client expectations.
Throughout his career, Robert has demonstrated leadership and creating a team environment focusing on meeting the Firms goals. Robert has worked with banks, prime brokers, retail brokers, fund administrators, legal counsel & compliance professionals, custodians and technology firms focusing on nurturing partnership and reciprocity.
Launching new firms, new strategies, new product lines have a been a key part of his career.
Robert was the Chief Operating Officer & Chief Compliance Officer of Spruce Investment Advisors since 2011. He was instrumental in building an operating infrastructure that allowed the firm to create businesses in separately managed accounts, hedge fund of funds, private equity fund of funds, and private transactions. Responsibilities included finance, trading, operations, a full build out of IT, partnerships with SEI as Fund Admin, KPMG for tax & audit, and business partnerships in Cayman for offshore activity. As the CCO Robert built a regulatory platform that successfully navigated regulatory audits for reporting obligations. Robert built a human resource department focused on Code of Ethics, Compliance training, and annual reviews.
Prior to Spruce, Robert helped launch Moon Capital, an emerging markets focused hedge fund. Robert was tasked with building the trading infrastructure as de-facto COO- CFO-CCO. This included building out New York and Singapore offices.
Before Moon Capital, Robert worked with Ziff Bothers Investments in New York when the firm was transitioning from external asset allocation to building their own internal hedge fund. Robert built a hedge fund infrastructure that would allow the Firm to trade globally across all markets and products.
Prior to Ziff, Robert joined Tiger Management in 1990 at the beginning of their legendary expansion. Joining a team of 3, Robert built a trading operation that would allow the Firm to expand outside the US Markets and trade non-equity products. Within two years the Firm was actively trading in 50 global markets and in every product available. The expansion included 150 trading partners, 25 prime & futures brokers, 9 Tiger Funds both on & offshore, multiple custodians, partners and fund administrators.

Tim Hyland - Co-Founder & Senior Partner
Tim has 23+ years of Investment Management, Capital Markets and Entrepreneurial experience as an accomplished team leader and partner in large firms, boutique asset managers and start-up companies. He was involved in many aspects of the businesses and specialized in: capital raising, sales & marketing distribution, investor relations and product development. He is familiar with a wide range of investment strategies, both long-only and alternatives, funds, and separately managed portfolios, marketed to a diverse group of investors and clients. Tim has served as a senior advisor and partner to several young and startup companies across multiple industries. He has also worked extensively with Hedge Funds and Private Equity.
Tim joined Allegiance Capital Management to help lead their expansion and growth. The boutique firm had mid-tier AUM and minimal distribution. Over the coming years, he would lead the entire Eastern Division USA and Europe sales & marketing, investor relations, and capital raising efforts resulting in AUM expansion to over $7.5billion+. The team developed relationships with almost every major brokerage and private bank platform along with several institutional consultants and family offices. They won many top-level asset management assignments for a large variety of clients including: corporations, foundations, endowments, ultra net worth investors, unions, and pension plans. Tim was an equity partner in the firm.
Allegiance Capital was acquired by Macquarie Group whom were expanding their US asset management distribution. Tim was a member of the NYC transition team and newly formed sales management & distribution group. They expanded product offerings to include: hedge funds, private equity, absolute return, and infrastructure portfolios for select clients. Following the final buyout of the equity partners, Tim spent extensive time working with the C-suite and founders of smaller asset managers helping expand their distribution and sales efforts within multiple investment channels.
Tim worked in the Investment Management Group at Prudential Investments exclusively with the top tier wealth consultants and their high net worth clients. He’s the recipient of the “Chairman’s Award” given to the team leader whom exceeded all sales and assets raised goals within the Eastern Division, USA.
Tim has a BA from Boston College.
He’s a longtime high performance driving instructor, having worked with the Audi Club USA, Porsche Club, and Ferrari Club of America at racetracks in the USA and Canada.
Tim and his family reside in Fort Lauderdale, FL
